How are regular season teams formed, and what is a "draft"?
Teams are chosen prior to the start of each season through a selection process known as a "draft". Managers from each team meet to select from a list of registered players for that season.
What if my child should play up/play down?
Occasionally a player will demonstrate abilities beyond those typical of his or her age-level league. In the same manner some players who have reached the age for a particular league may not be ready for that level of play. With the approval of the Player Agent and in consultation with the player's parents, children can play up or down from their age-level league. There are exceptions by rule where players cannot play up or down and the Player Agent has the final word on any league change of this sort.
If I or my child is unhappy with the team to which he/she has been selected, can they switch teams?
Only in extreme cases does the league allow players to switch teams after the teams have been formed. Approval requires extenuating circumstances, therefore any request is unlikely to be approved and we will ask that the player remain on the team to which he or she has been selected.
Can my child be on the same team as a friend or family member?
The only situation where multiple players are assured of being on the same team is for what's known as the "brother option". Where two or more siblings are playing in the same age-level league, managers must select them to the same team unless the parent chooses otherwise. This is to avoid making parents drive children in the same family to multiple team practices and games in a week. In the case of school or neighborhood friends or relatives such as cousins, a parent's written request to the league on the registration form of their desire that their child be on the same team as another person will be noted at draft time and managers will be asked to honor those requests where possible, but there are no guarantees.
What about carpooling?
Carpooling situations will be given a little more consideration at draft time, but only in the younger leagues (Tee Ball and Coach Pitch).
